The world under gradual takeoff

Broad automation of remote work arrives around 2040, with gains building slowly from 2025. Annual growth reaches about 15% in the best-positioned countries, roughly seven times the current frontier trend and in line with the central forecasts of AI insiders. The longer transition gives countries time to adapt, producing widely shared but uneven gains. Switch the lens at the top to recompute everything. Hover a country for its numbers and click it to pin it; pin up to five to compare them side by side. For the full table and country profiles, see .

GDP, GDP per capita & 2016–25 growth: World Bank WDI (2025 levels); factor scores data-derived v5. Economic data: World Bank WDI. GDP, GDP per capita and population are 2025 actuals (current US$); trend growth is the mean 2016–2025 real rate, so the charts start from a 2025 level. The UAE and the Bahamas have no WDI 2025 entry and carry their 2024 figures. Factor scores built from WDI, WGI, the WB Climate Knowledge Portal (heat), water stress, Microsoft AI Diffusion, EF EPI, CommonCrawl and documented rubrics — full per-factor sources in Methodology. Taiwan: IMF WEO. Ireland growth: CSO modified GNI*. Guyana growth: IMF-based non-oil proxy (oil-startup distortion). Data refreshed 2026-09-28.

Countries without a modeled result (gray): the atlas includes 157 economies with sufficiently complete, internationally comparable data. It omits North Korea, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Venezuela, Cuba, Libya, Turkmenistan, Somalia, Eritrea, South Sudan and, for now, Lebanon because the required series are unavailable or unusable. Conflict, sanctions, limited international reporting, hyperinflation or crisis-related breaks explain the missing data. Many of these countries would probably meet the rules for the High-risk / volatile archetype, but they are not scored. Their absence means that the model lacks a result, not that they have no exposure to AI.
